Good read Gareth. I agree!

I would not profess to be in any way an expert on the way we educate our children, but I do wonder whether we’re adapting for an age where knowledge is so easily accessible. Do we need a bit less structure to allow different types of learning to flourish? Does the average comment thread show we need to teach more critical thinking and philosophy (especially with so much misinformation floating around)?

I’ve been reading a couple of different books lately on leadership & learning, and the general running theme seems to be this..

If you give people control and create a safe environment to teach them how to use it, they are far more likely to adopt a growth mindset. The doors to purpose and opportunity will be easier to find.

Rob people of that control and they’ll blame external factors first and foremost for the things that happen to them. The world is viewed through the lense of scarcity. What they lack and what others have.

Glad that you picked up on the fact that life long learning is a fanciful luxury for some. It’s one of the reasons I’m an advocate of trialling Universal Basic Income.

Keep this stuff coming. All the best!
